Presenting the Vision

Following the initial consultation, Deborah’s second meeting with the Alfresco Emporium Interior Styling team marked a key step in the process. This is where ideas begin to take shape, moving from early conversations into a clear and considered design direction.

Building on the initial brief, the team presented a series of mood boards, material palettes and spatial concepts, walking Deborah through each space, room by room. From the Great Living Room and dining area through to bedrooms, entry and studio, every element was thoughtfully explored to show how the home would come together as a whole.

The concept for Ocean’s Edge reimagines coastal living through a more textural, island-influenced lens. Moving beyond a traditional coastal palette, the direction introduces depth, warmth and a sense of understated luxury. Natural materials such as timber, linen, rattan and stone form the foundation, creating spaces that feel grounded, layered and connected to the surrounding landscape.

A rich, tonal palette was developed to bring this vision to life. Warmer hues and soft greens create a sense of calm and continuity throughout the home, while still allowing for personal expression. As Deborah shared, while she has always gravitated towards blue, for Ocean’s Edge she has chosen to explore a warmer palette of greens and earthy tones, with touches of blue still incorporated in key areas, including a dedicated guest room.

This stage is highly collaborative and often one of the most exciting parts of the journey. As the concepts were presented, Deborah was able to respond to what she loved, refine selections and consider how her own pieces would sit within the overall design. Sentimental items, including artwork and a custom upholstered bedhead, were carefully worked into the scheme to ensure a cohesive and personal result.

Practical considerations are also resolved at this stage. Layout, scale and functionality are explored in detail to ensure each space not only looks right, but works for the way it will be lived in. Reviewing furniture selections within floor plans helped bring clarity to key decisions, from dining configurations for entertaining through to how each room would feel in everyday use.

As Deborah shared during the presentation, “Scale is where I struggle, so it’s really great to see how you’ve put this together.” This moment highlights the value of translating ideas into something visual and tangible, giving clients confidence in their decisions.

To support this, the presentation included a detailed booklet featuring product selections, floor plans and visual renders, allowing clients to clearly visualise the outcome and feel confident in the direction before moving forward.

While we’re able to offer a wide range of pieces from within our own collection, we also source beyond this and, where needed, help design custom pieces, ensuring each space is considered in its entirety and tailored to the client.

Seeing the design come together was a defining moment. As Deborah described, “This is where it starts to feel very real… this is the fun part.” It marks the shift from construction into the more personal and creative phase of the home.

With a clear direction now established, Ocean’s Edge moves into the next stage, where selections are refined and each layer begins to come to life.
