Setting the Styling Direction

Ocean’s Edge marks the beginning of an ongoing interior styling journey with Deborah Hutton as her South Coast home takes shape. We’ll be following Deborah’s journey throughout the year as her build progresses, offering insight into how our Interior Styling team works collaboratively from the outset — understanding lifestyle needs, shaping direction and building a layered interior over time.

Inspired by a warmer, island-influenced approach, the styling direction moves beyond a traditional white coastal palette to embrace texture, depth and materials that feel lived-in and timeless. Natural elements such as rattan, cane, timber and stone form the foundation for a home designed to feel comfortable, personal and closely connected to its coastal setting.

“When I started working on the interiors for Ocean’s Edge, I realised that every time I was drawn to a piece of furniture or a particular look on Pinterest, it kept leading me back to Alfresco Emporium. I thought, okay — there’s definitely something driving me here.”
— Deborah Hutton

This initial meeting marked the foundation of the styling process, with our Interior Styling team meeting with Deborah to review early ideas, architectural plans and sources of inspiration. From here, the next phase of the journey will see our team translate these conversations into considered mood boards, concepts and material selections — bringing structure and clarity to the home’s island-inspired direction.

“This is my forever home, and I wanted it to feel layered and warm — not overly modern, and not something that feels rushed. I love working collaboratively on a project like this, because there are so many elements and ideas to bring together.”
— Deborah Hutton

Follow along as the Ocean Edge journey continues, with Part 2 exploring mood boards, concepts and material selections this April.
